A unique and artistic sterling and mother of pearl necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This beautiful piece is made of sterling silver and has a rich, feminine mother of pearl design. At the center piece of the necklace is a sterling link that forms a large u-shape with a flowing filigree wirework framed design. Set within the link is a mother of pearl plaque which has a striking hand carved image of a winged angelic woman sitting within a draped seat. Behind the woman is a crisscrossed etched background which adds wonderful texture and depth to the design. The center piece hangs from sterling open wirework links that connect to 2 additional triangular shaped links, each holding complimentary mother of pearl plaques. These links attach to a simple silver chain that fastens in the back. The mother of pearl images are simply wonderful and the flowing filigree wirework and beadwork makes it a true work of art. A fabulous piece, this necklace looks fantastic when worn and would make a stunning addition to any collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures 19.5" in length. The center link measures 1 5/8" long, 1 1/4" wide and 1/8" thick and each outer link measures 1 1/8" tall, 3/4" wide and 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the chain, sterling setting or to the mother of pearl plaques. The clasp is intact and in good working condition.
